Policy Papers as a Tool to Strengthen the Role of Political Parties
22.07.2018

As part of a series of activities aimed at empowering young cadres in political parties and enhancing their analytical skills in the political, social and economic fields, the Al Quds Center for Political Studies (AQC), assisted by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), organized a training workshop entitled "Policy Papers as a Tool to Strengthen the Role of Political Parties." The workshop was held on the 21st and 22nd of July and focused on  the training of 25 politically involved young men and women in the methods behind drafting policy papers, and the preparation that goes into it.

With AQC director Oraib al-Rantawi facilitating the workshop, along with KAS project director Hala Abu-Ghazala providing opening remarks, the participants were taught various key concepts pertaining to the role of general elections and how they are run, how one can be more politically involved and how to manage such an undertaking, and the differences between policy papers and public and academic research. The event highlighted the importance of the preparation of policy papers in public affairs to enhance a political party's role and effectiveness among its constituencies and at the national level.

Throughout the workshop, participants learned various methods of collecting and verifying evidence and data to better draft policy papers, while evaluating and suggesting improvements to existing policy through collaborative group exercises.
