Al Quds Center for Political Studies and Public Aid Organization held a workshop discussing the future of Christians in Iraq on September 28-29, 2013. This workshop discussed the conditions of Christians in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt during the Arab Spring. The event included over fifty political, religious, academic and civil activists.
Al Quds Center for Political Studies requested to organize workshops at a national level for research of Iraqi Christians. Al Quds Center for Political Studies also reviewed the challenges Christians are facing in Iraq. The workshops included ideas and recommendations that reflect the consensus of Christians; which began during the second regional conference held late this year. The conference declared a "road map" to deal with the problems and challenges facing Christians in the Arab countries.
The workshop participants discussed the following topics:
- The role of Christians in the Iraq.
- Challenges Christians face in society (political participation, social challenges, economic security).
- Building a Christian consensus can face challenges between Christians and their churches.
- Look for the future: a solution for Christians dealing with problems and challenges; featuring a road map towards equal citizenship.
