08.12.2018

Al-Quds Center for Political studies, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Atef Al Tarawneh, Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, organized a seminar entitled, "Parliamentary Diplomacy in Jordan: Towards a New Outlook." The conference took place on December 8th, 2018, at the Royal Hotel in Amman, Jordan.

The conference included the presentation of the findings and recommendations of the policy paper, "Parliamentary Diplomacy: Understanding the Jordanian Experience in the Regional and International Framework" by Mr. Oraib Al Rantawi, Director General of the Al-Quds Center for Political Studies. His Excellency Mr. Atef Al Tarawneh gave an address entitled, ”Towards Building New Parliamentary Diplomatic Traditions.” In the second session, entitled "Institutional Framework of Parliamentary Diplomacy: Parliamentary Views," four Jordanian officials, including Members of Parliment and members of the House of Representatives, were invited to speak.

The aim of the seminar was to highlight the importance of parliamentary diplomacy as a response to the diplomatic efforts of the Jordanian state institutions and representatives. It emphasized the important role of the House of Representatives, and not only the Foreign Ministry, in promoting diplomatic international relations, as a body of elected officials representing the will and interests of the Jordanian people.
