Policy Forum
Notion and Objectives

  • Policy Forum is a national forum for policy dialogue; a forum which includes an elite group of opinion and thought leaders, figures from the academia, politicians, businessmen and business women, partisans, and parliamentarians (from both the upper and lower houses). This Forum will be an umbrella and a framework to organize and supervise a series of regular events and functions.
The notion behind this forum emerged in conjunction with conclusions of research papers; and recommendations of conferences and workshops implemented by the Center along the past years. All of these revealed poor communication and consultation among all political and social activists; they showed that channels to exchange opinion, experience and knowledge with the academia, partisan scenes, business community and the Parliament are blocked. These channels are also blocked when it comes to the activists of the civil community, women organization leaders and organizations of human rights.
Moreover, political, partisan and parliamentarian activists are still not well familiar with the challenges facing the economic reform process and its social repercussions. Thus, there should be a platform for interaction, dialogue and exchange of experience and knowledge. A platform such as “Policy Forum” should be launched in order to achieve a set of objectives including:
  • Open channels of communication, dialogue, consultation and interaction among all groups and activists in the political, thought, economic and social scenes.
  • Supervise a series of activities and events that will be proposed and organized according to certain timelines and in line with the priorities of the Jordanian National Agenda as viewed by the Forum members and activists.
  • Work on creating a common vision to screen and analyze all challenges that Jordan faces especially in the socio-economic field; challenges that are becoming more serious day after day. Accordingly, efforts will be exerted to develop ideas and proposals that help provide solution and exits as well as proposing alternative policies.
  • Assist in increasing attention of political, partisan and parliamentarian activists to socio-economic challenges that Jordan faces as well as raising their awareness of such challenges at the lapse of two decades of economic reform while exploring future challenges in this domain.

Membership in the “Policy Forum” will be open and voluntary for Parliamentarians (deputies and senates), academician, party leaders, businessmen/women, civil society activists, and. women and youth organizations.
Conditions of this membership are limited to admittance of the general objectives of the Forum and willingness to participate in the Forum activities as well supporting its activities.
